Throughout his life, Hungarian composer Bela Bartok was interested in teaching young musicians. Early on in his career he collaborated on several volumes to help teach young people to play the piano. His major effort in this area though, was his Mikrokosmos... a collection of 155 short pieces to help train young pianists - beginning with dead simple, and ending up way at the other end of the scale.
